I lost 10 points for a violation answering a question !!!?

I didn`t swear wasn`t abusive and wasn`t allowed to explain my answer just assumed guilty ...who decides if something is a violation? I thought this was (within the bounds of decency) a free speech forum.I notice the porn robots in every games room are not classed as a violation and I for one find them offensive.

Yeah they do need to work on their violation thing. It seems like they just do it randomly and with no questions asked. You'll see somebody get flagged for answering in context, while at the same time you will see people getting away with advertising spam, profanity (major), and other things. Here it's basically the squeeky wheel that gets the oil, no matter whether the wheel needed that oil or not.

The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. Someone asked if the mezzanine seats right behind home plate at the Mets stadium were good seats. I answered " Are you just bragging?" and I got violated. I don't know who gets to decide what is in violation and what isn't but they wouldn't let me explain my case either.

I know how you are feeling man.

I think you're just assumed guilty the moment someone reports you as a violator. Try to re-read the email sent to you cause I think you'll find instructions there on how you can argue with the report. Good luck.. :)

litttle_b0_beep, our Customer Care agents review questions or answers based on our community guidelines:

    http://answers.yahoo.com/info/community_guidelines...

If you received a violation, the email notification shows the reason and has a contact option listed to contest the violation if you feel your answer wasn't in violation. I can't overturn a violation myself, but feel free to ask if you have any questions about the community guidelines.

Unfortunately, we only work for Yahoo! Answers and can't moderate the games rooms, but you can contact the Yahoo! Games team here:

    Hope this helps.

  • Wow... that sucks... the only way is that someone probably flagged your answer or something along those lines... If you want to, I figure you could appeal it by emailing the mods... How to do that is beyond me, but good luck getting your points back.

Yea, it happens. They once dinged me for using a users name (just their posting id). I had simply asked a question and their name was in it. Some yahoo (haha) who knew them obviously reported it. Just ignore it as best you can, it's only points, they are not worth anything anyway,, you'll be ok, just breath deep as you give them the one finger salute.
