Dont forget your emails if you used outlook. I would also backup any programs that you have that you dont have the CD to anymore...such as Microsoft Word, Excel, or any other .exe install programs that you might have saved that will make it easier for you to reinstall again without having to look for the website.

This is exactly why when I install XP I have it sit on its own partition. Which would be your C drive. Then I have a D drive to which I place all of my files backups etc....when It's time to reinstall I just reformat C during XP install.
I would backup my email database as well as the items you have mentioned. Also any 'keys' that are required for full program access. Any downloaded software, so you don't have to re-download later. And of course any game saves.

the best thing to do is insert a windows xp cd in... restart ur comptuer.. boot from cd right in the beginning (press F8) and then continue with setup.... then when it asks u about which partition u wanna intsall it on... click on the one that is not being used... so xp will isntall on it... and then the old files are still saved on the other partition.. after xp installs a fresh copy.. format the other partition and ur set

Go to drive manager make print out to the drivers just in case you have to upgrade or you got a driver is not working after the new format and installation, so you know what driver to look for.

If you have a re-install CD, juts save your important stuff like digital pictures, MP3's
Also you can refresh install the OS, you do not have to re-format.

Anything you don't have the disc to reload--programs especially. I assume you have already defragmented and swept out your spyware and viruses--you should do those before taking the nuclear option and reformatting.
