Performers who think they are politicians?

I can understand the crowd getting ticked off with La Streisand doing political skits when what they paid for was to see her singing! Just because those are her political beliefs doesn't mean ticket-buyers want if force-fed down their throats - they wanted music, & songs they knew & loved - not her trading stupid remarks with a Bush look-alike. I hope they got their money back! Anyone else feel the same way?

What's worse, though - in my opinion - when things didn't go "her way" & the skit wasn't received as glowingly as she seemed to think it should have been, she actually cursed at someone who had paid money to see her sing!! Who does she think she is? She cursed at a member of her audience! That's totally disgusting & although I have enjoyed her music all my life, I hope no one ever buys another ticket or cd or supports her again. Her behavior should never be tolerated!!!!

I watch or listen to entertainers to be entertained. I am more than capable of thinking for myself politically. It seems that because these people get adoration for their work they are of the opinion that we care what they think. I have just taken a simple tactic in this area. I don't watch their movies, I don't buy their records and I certainly don't pay to see them live. They have a right to their opinions just like I do, but I don't have to support their careers, or help provide them with a public forum for it. If more people would follow this tactic the message would get out and this garbage would stop.

I love Barbra S but I agree with you on this one. I was dissappointed to see She had come out of retirement to plug her political views I would not of been pleased if I paid all that money for a ticket. I have always wanted to see her live it's been a dream of mine but now I wonder if I could spend my money better.I am sorry to see her go down this road she has found herself on she should stick to what she is good at entertaining but the world has changed so much since her heyday. I once looked on her website and it seemed to contain alot of political stuff I was disappointed . She like all of us are entitled to our opinions but to publically air it when people want to be entertained is wrong.I am also appalled to learn she verbally abused members of her audience.

I definitely tend to experience that a number of our flesh pressers are the suited actors in the corporation. we've the opposite phenomenon in the united kingdom the place politicians are turning out to be to be celebrities. Ann Widdecombe, Jeffrey Archer, Robert Kilroy Silk and George Galaway are examples of this. i think of that in case you may see politics as a branch of the performing arts, you may discover that the area isn't a merchandising, yet in basic terms taking over paintings in yet another self-discipline of in fact the comparable interest.

While Ms Streisand has every right to voice her opinion I agree that her rudeness to her fans is beyond the pale. I think she owes her ex fans (now) a public apology at the very least. Good thing she has made all the money she is going to make.

It seems that when bands are being pushed out of the limelight they try to go political. For example: Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, Michael Stipe or REM, even Maynard of A Perfect Circle. There are few out there that seem to have their hearts and heads in the right place, such as Bono from U2. I like to go to concerts to hear music- not a political debate. It all seems to come around and bite them though...just look at the Dixie Chicks...wow.
