Song composers?

Is there a website where I can find out who composed contemporary and popular songs? I don't want to find out who performs them, but who actually wrote them.

I enjoy more modern classical... "The Planets" series by Holst Most Piano pieces by Edvard Grieg (Including "Erotic Op. 43-5" of his Lyric pieces) The Moldau by Smetana is a very beautiful suite. Also, a modern-day French composer I really enjoy: Yann Tiersen (wrote the score for Amelie). Look up his songs "J'y Suis Jamais Alle," "Sur Le Fil," and "Comptine D'Un Autre Ete." Also Vince Giuraldi, Howard Shore, John Williams, and Danny Elfman are modern day composer I like.

Giuseppe Verdi is my favorite composer. My all-time favorite opera is "La Traviata" and my favorite piece is "Parigi o cara". Another one of my favorite operas of his is "Otello". In it I like Desdemona's aria "Ave Maria". I'm not much of a Puccini fan, but I can't help but melt when I hear "Vogliatemi bene" from "Madama Butterfly" and "Si, mi chiamano Mimi" from "La Boheme". I like "Che gelida manina", but only when Signor Pavarotti (RIP) sings it. :o) I have taken a liking to Donizetti as well. I recently attended a performance of "Don Pasquale" and I was very impressed. Norina's aria "Quel guardo il cavaliere" was hilarious! EDIT: Thank you, Maia for reminding me of my ballet options! I second the Nutcracker! Now that I mention Tchaikovsky, I adore "Capriccio Italien", surprisingly recommended to me by my ex-Music Major-Geometry teacher. :D
