After a purchase, people try to justify it to themselves. Marketers have a term for that. What is it?

For example, say I bought a new coat on impulse. Then, when I got home, I might start to say, "well, my old coat was a little worn...and I guess I like this color better...and it's better to have two coats than one...." (And all of this occurs *after* the decision to buy the coat has already been made.)

Thanks! :)
