What makes a car title "salvage?"?

How do I know if my car title is clean or salvaged? The car has been in an accident where someone hit me and it needed body work but nothing as far as engine or transmission has ever been damaged. I am trying to sell it and everyone wants to know if the title is clean or salvaged. I honestly don't know. Is this something I would know if it was listed as salvaged? If not, how do I find out?

The title would be listed as salvage if it was totaled and sold to a wholesaler or junk yard. If you own it and have always owned it, and it wasn't listed as salvaged when you got it, then it is still not listed that way.

a car is salvaged if it is an accident which the car has more damage than the insurance company wants to repair, due to the ratio of repair cost to value. if you go tin an accident and the insurance company paid and you had it repaired then it is not a salvage title. if you buy a car from a dealership legally they have to tell you if it is a salvaged ttile a private party selling doesn't.

from what you are sayign about your car it is not a salvage title, they coudl ask if there is a lean holder, which means you own the car and have the title or you have a lienholder(bank) and they have the title, then you have to pay them off to give the title to the new buyer.

A salvage or rebuilt motor vehicle signifies that the motorized vehicle develop into deemed a finished loss at one aspect. this does no longer continuously propose that the motorized vehicle had important damage. On alot of older automobiles (better than 8 or 9 years old) a damaged bumper and headlights can make it a finished loss. this may properly be incredibly repaired and the motorized vehicle will be saftied and the upkeep do not have any result on how the motorized vehicle drives in any respect. On a better moderen motor vehicle notwithstanding commonly there must be alot of damage and contained concerning an inclination body the motorized vehicle would by no skill stress a similar even after being repaired and in reality will be risky if in touch in a mjor collision back. There can be issues like doors that stick or dont close precise, water leaks and so on. Minor stuff yet though there. So do not enable a salvage call scare you. Get a historic previous report (carfax) and discover out how a lot damage there develop into and to what portion of the motorized vehicle. also as far as in hardship-free words Hondas and Toyotas being strong even as that would were really authentic 15 years in the past its by no skill authentic now. Honda distinctly makes overpriced automobiles that are of a similar or perhaps a lot less high quality (contained in the ultimate 2 or 3 years) then their competition. As for the motorized vehicle you've stated I beleive that too be the ultimate extremely strong technology of the civic yet stay faraway from a hybrid with thoose varieties of miles. i might want to for my section dodge all hybrids. The batterys will be very extreme priced to interchange and in reality have better of a damaging impression on the ambience.

a car title gets tagged as salvage when it has been in an accident and been "totaled" by the insurance company. that usually happens when the cost of the repair is more than the resale value of the vehicle.

if the car was totaled by you, and you sold it as is without repairing it, the people who were going to repair it would change the title into a salvage title, fix and re-sell.

If you have never totaled it, it's not a salvaged car.
