how can i play mandolin faster?

my solos are not getting much faster. HELP!!

    Practice... practice... practice! The more you practice the better you'll get. And it will take YEARS to get better!

    There is only one way and that is practice. Speed comes with a lot of practice and time. You also have to be careful that you don't lose accuracy in your quest for speed. try playing scales in dotted rythms or alternate between playing quarter notes and triplets. You could also try using some guitar techniques. check out any good guitar magazine (guitarist, guitar techniques etc) or website (try Steve Vai's for example) and look out for speedpicking (i'm assuming you are using a pick?) There are so many resources online that you will be spoilt for choice, but always remember that patience and practice will reward you. Good luck.

    practice is always the best advice. Also, check out any advanced class dvd's by Chris Thile. He does mando lessons on dvd for homespun video.
