There is nothing worse than worrying about your child. My son didn't hold his head up well at all. I worked with several therapists but what worked best for me was constantly having him watch me take a favorite toy and move it slowly from side to side and then up and down.

Also, while he is laying on his back, take his little hands and gently pull him up. Allow him to use his muscles to help pull himself up.

Put him on his stomach and play with him that way. He will be forced to hold his head up.

If all of this upsets him than take it very slow with him. If all of this overwhelms you than take a deep breath, talk to a proffessional about having your son gently evaluated and then help him however you can.

My son really made progress with lots of love and time.

It'll all work out just fine. Keep your chin up (and eventually your son will do the same)

Yes, a 9-month-old should be able to hold his head up, but all babies are different. You should make an appointment with your pediatrician and take him in for a check-up. Only his doctor can determine if there is a problem or not.

I cant see the pic really good but it doesn't matter. Nothing we say here can make you feel 100% better. You know that babies develop at different rates so I'm not gonna go into all that.. I would recommend talking to your pediatrician at his well baby check up which should be at 9 months or scheduling an appointment with him/her to go over your concerns. I think that's the only thing that will put your fears to rest. Good Luck and Take Care.

Yes he should be holding his head up better. Does he try and look around while holding his head up? Can he follow

your finger as you move it from side to side? Surely you

have taken you son to a doctor several times by now for

routine check-ups and shots and boosters. What have the

doctors said about his ability to hold his head up? If you

are concerned please talk to his doctor about this.

There is a syndrom called (non medical name) floppy baby syndrom. My husband had it when he was born. There is physio associated with it. You MUST consult your doctor about this. Only with an exam can they tell you what is wrong. A nine month old baby should hold not only his head up, but also be showing signs of pulling his whole body up for crawling/walking purposes.

If he almost never holds his head up yeah... Try going to the doctor for a check up...Its probably nothing... good luck!

If you are that concerned you should speak with your pediatrician and if you still don't feel better by what they say or recommend then see another one. Hope everything work out for the better.
