Simple question. What in the Constitution makes US great?
Please no flaming. Just answer the question. Balance of powers, checks and balances, state rights vs federal rights, Bill of Rights, etc. This is not a partsian question, but an honest question on how the US Constitution is a great document.
for the first answer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_of_the_U...
It is truly a simple question. What do people think are the strongest principles of the Constitution. I think Articles 1-3, basically the seperation of powers and a system of checks and balances. Of course the Bill of Rights, but it doesn't mean much if their isn't control of power within government itself.

The idea of innocent until proven guilty is very, very rare throughout history. A warrant is needed from protection of illegal search and seizure, and the right to bear arms and not be arrested for speech. Also freedom of religion. I'd say: The Bill of Rights.

"A nicely regulated militia, being mandatory to the protection of a loose state, the stunning of the human beings to maintain and undergo hands, shall no longer be infringed." Please stick to me, as i comprehend my answer is particularly long. i've got self assurance that the form is a "residing rfile", that it fairly is written in such a manner that the regulations it outlines are usual sufficient that they are able to respond to issues that the Founders could no longer have dreamed up on the time (certainly, i've got self assurance that this became planned, otherwise, it could have outlived it incredibly is usefulness -- the Founders have been rather intelligent adult men; plenty smarter than all and sundry in Congress now!) Anywho, i think of that the 2d helps gun possession to guard against threats to the "loose State", and the human beings who stay in it. whilst this regulation handed, the British (uh, i assume which would be you) invading back became nevertheless our ultimate danger (and it occurred in 1812), so the stunning became extra to the form to wield hands to be waiting to form a militias, if the will arises. nicely, as we talk you're our ultimate acquaintances, and we even have not have been given any further desire for a militia. even nonetheless, we do have police on the interior of reach, state, and national point. interior the regulation's easiest form, the militias stay to tell the story as our police, because of the 2d exchange. however the human beings of this u . s . a . do no longer each have our very own inner maximum police officer, so each so often that could desire to guard the human beings of our "loose State" demands the same old public use of hands. The Founders in no way concept with regards to the certainty that a quickie-mart proprietor might desire a shotgun to chase a robber away, yet they incredibly good the form in such a manner that leaves that probability open.

Truly it's the thoughts and ideas it holds and the power that those ideas and thoughts came to hold by being a legal document , it's the immensity and resilience we were able to hold of power to govern our own selves and sadly we are losing that day to day by our government , that's not to say i don't agree in keeping this unbiased .

The Bill of Rights. It protects individuals' rights. Without it, America would have just traded the tyranny of a king for the tyranny of the majority.

i don't know what you mean by flaming so i hope that i am not doing it. the constitution did not make US (us, the people) great..us the people are what made the constitution great. without us, the people, there is no written document any where any time that is worth the paper it is written on.
