Next Question Best Version of "Unchained Melody" and Why?

Righteous Brothers for me as this became me and my wife's song, and it's the first song we ever danced together to.

Agree with Righteous Brothers. It is nice to go back in time.

In this site I have mentioned the oldies several times. The

Big Band era when musicians really could play. Artie Shaw

was one of my favourites and the voice of Mel Thormé was

unbeatable. Try to get "the Best of Mel .." includes Windmills

of your Mind, Yesterday when I was Young, Traces, all the

songs are impecable, clear mellow voice. Where have the

voices gone.... Robbie Williams seems to be the only one

that can skip back into history and then return to present day

style. Perhaps nostalgia is my problem (69) but the guys in

those days could write, read, sing and play .... I sometimes feel

that these "never will die" songs will come back, I hope so!

The Original Platters had amongst the best arrangements

ever. Sorry, I am losing myself in time. Keep your fond

memories intact and try to pass on your knowledge to the

younger generation, a seed can flourish. One last word, I

have played Mel Thormé to all the young who visit me, and

not one has failed to ask me, where is this guy, this is the

greatest voice I have ever heard, how is it possible that I

do not even know his name. That‘s it Pal, sorry for taking up

Righteous Brothers with the help of Phil Spector made the definitive recording. But Nat King Cole did a number on it also.

Give the vote to good old Jimmy Young. Let's face it, if it hadn't been for the likes of him playing their records, people would never have heard of most of the rest of them, including the bloody Righteous Brothers

I most definately love the righteous brothers version the best. I love the smoothness of their voices.

Certainly not Robson & Jeromes effort in the late 1990's - that was dire.

For me it has to be The Righteous Brothers, just magic.

I believe The Drifters did it too, and it was good. But, I have to agree that the Righteous Brothers is the best.

My favorite version is done by LeAnn Rimes. The album is called Unchained Melody--The Early Years. I think it is the best one, but that's just me.
