Did Christ come to destroy culture or to redeem it?

It is an interesting topic discussion. Another way of putting it is, does Christ work within and through human culture or does he seek to replace it with something else?

A couple of examples of the implications of this would be...

Christmas and Easter: both began as pagan holidays but are now concidered Christian holidays. Does the change in focus of these holidays redeem them?

Contemporary Christian music: This has been true of "Christian" music of all times but CCM words off of and along side the contemporary music of the culture.

I would like to hear your views and thoughts on this.

Thank you.

Christ came to redeem mankind, not "culture". Remember, mankind was given free will, so God's not about to send his Son to start a cultural revolution-a spiritual revolution would be more likely. That's my humble opinion.

If Christ worked through human culture what a disorganised mess it would be...and is! There are many religious so called Christian celebrations that have been incorporated into out culture these have been adopted by so called christian churches many, many hundreds of years ago,as their only means of converting the multitude. By adopting these it brought them power, strength and money. What have they done with all this, how have they helped humankind, the answer is incredibally obvious. There are more wars and social attrocities committed in the name of God than all other. Christ certainly isn't going to work through human culture but he will replace all man made governments with his Kingdom. With Christ as King it will be a rule of Justice, Righteousness, Peace and Love free from oppression, greed and corruption. If Jesus was going to rule through human rulerships would he not have established his kingdom at the time he was on earth? This is infact what the Romans were looking for, a political messiah> As a human whilst on earth he was subject to human limitations, even though he could and did perform miracles these were to show what he would do on a grand scale when his Kingdom would rule over the Earth at God's appointed time. (this being soon, according to Bible prophecy). At present the Bible tells us that Satan and his demons are misleading the entire inhabited earth (Rev 12:7-9), hence we see a increasing amount of absolutely every problem and atrocity earthwide. In the book of Daniel 2:44 it tell us that "in the days of those kings (the rulers of today) the God of Heaven will set up a Kingdom that will never be brought to ruin, (this is the Kingdom we pray for in the Lord's Prayer) And the Kingdom itself will never be brought to ruin, it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms and it itself will stand to times indefinate" . The Bible also tells us that God is going to "bring to ruin those ruining the earth". (Rev 11:18) What a relief that will be as all our leaders are too scarred to address environmental issues as they will loose too much money. How short sighted they are!

Jesus said He came to bring the truth about God's will for man. Christmas and Easter are Christian holiday, but the Catholic Church put them on days of pagan holidays so the the pagan would not feel oppressed.

Jesus gave instructions for Christians to form communities, live godly lives, spread the word, and obey the laws of the nations in which they live. There is nothing there about culture, except to avoid things that would negatively influence a godly way of life.

Jesus was in heaven with god then when adam and eve sinned through satin and sinned the world he sent jesus down to earth through mary so he could teach people the truth of jehovah god and how his purpose was to have us on earth and live happily and again we were sinned because of adam and eve.

jehovah made angels in the heavens with jesus then made animals and people he then kicked satin and his followers out of the heavens because they were jealous of jesus and jehovah so satin then came down to earth and told adam and eve if they ate off the tree god said not to then they would bound to be like god so they did which caused them to be kicked out of the garden of eden along with satin and his followers who now rule the earth and make imperfect. So when they were all kicked out adam and eve had kids and that sin passed through to them and they had no hope in jehovah so jehovah sent jesus here on earth to help teach those ones about him and make them understand that if they followed his father than they would have eternal life.

hope this helps just read the bible-

The Bible is pretty clear on this one:

(Matthew 10:34-37) "Think not that I am come to send peace to earth: I come not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me."

    Hallelujah!

He came to shake his cute little tushie around in our faces, and then tell us that we can't have it.
