Is it worth it to repair a 20-year old Sears Kenmore electric range?
The coils have 'flamed out'. Is it necessary to replace other parts such as the terminal block at the same time.

I would compare the price of parts to repair the old one then, the price of a new range. It would probably better to go for the new range.

I assume it has plug in elements, so see if the blocks are tight
enough to make good contact and Next pull out the coils to see
if anything is obviously defective. You can check them for
continuity with a meter and if those things are ok, then its probably the switches or a broken wire. You can buy new elements at hardware stores and proably the blocks as well.
Make sure you get the right elements. GE elements are not
designed to fit anyplace else, even though they look alike.
You can check them by removing a working element and plug
it into the defective site. If it works then the element is shot and
needs only to be replaced. A monkey could do that. Anything
else and you need some basic knowhow. Do not under any
circumstances , replace your stove just for this.

First I would test the terminal block to see if its still workable , then I would look in the Sears Catalog to see if they still carry the coils, then I would contact a repair services that works on Sears ranges and get an estimate; if the estimate out ways the cost of a new range, then I would purchase a new range. Here's a web site to check out.

the 1st element to do is verify the fuse or circuit breaker if the are ok it would probable be the heating element or the decrease change interior the dryer. the two are ordinary to repair in the experience that your fairly reachable.First unplug the dryer then pop the marvelous of the dryer up interior the front that's going to be hinged interior the decrease back improve it up fairly and you will see a pair screws protecting the front on get rid of them and the front will come off investigate the decrease back in case you notice a small detachable panel in midsection of decrease back take it off and there's a C clip on shaft decrease than there get rid of it. if no plate overlook this step decrease back in front investigate the belt this is going to pass over an loafer pulley investigate it good to bear in mind the way it is going and then get rid of it the drum will carry out you may desire to be certain the heating element in the back of drum and probable will see a glaring destroy interior the element count on how annoying you concept that's, you may replace the element or placed a crimp connector on the destroy only take the plastic off it first.i've got achieved this countless instances and had it final 6 months and as much as two years between upkeep and characteristic had as many as 4 upkeep on one million heating element.
