"In God We Trust" was put on all paper currency by an Act of Congress in 1955; the phrase was declared the national motto by an Act of Congress in 1956 and first appeared on paper currency in 1957.

This time is known for racism, religious discrimination, and political oppression in the United States called McCarthyism.

During this time people in a variety of situations were accused of being Communists and became the subject of aggressive investigations and questioning before various government or privately run panels. Suspicions were often given credence despite inconclusive or questionable evidence, and the level of threat posed by a person's real or supposed leftist associations or beliefs was often greatly exaggerated. Most of these punishments came about through trial verdicts that would later be overturned, laws that would later be declared unconstitutional, dismissals for reasons that would be later declared illegal or actionable, or extra-legal procedures that would later come into general disrepute. In addition, the FBI, under the militant J. Edgar Hoover, engaged in illegal spying campaigns against Americans.

During this period, the federal government acted more like an authoritarian dictatorship than a constitutional democracy.

So... No and doesn't this story of illegal spying, religious discrimination and wide spread hate sound familiar.

When This Great Nation was founded, it was intended to be a melting pot of cultures and religions. However, lately it has become a political stage for "minorities" to rally together to achieve their common goal and the louder they yell the more politically correct the majority tries to be. It is now time for the Majority to start doing the talking with actions. Get out and Vote, write to your legislators and senators and live your life the way you want this country to be! Fly your flag and proudly say the pledge of allegiance with your hand over your heart and promise your allegiance to THIS country. When people like the Venezuelan President comes and bashes OUR president (whether you like the current administration or not), join as a group and show him the quickest flight out of our great country and PLEASE don't ever let yourself be seen shaking his hand like Danny Glover did! If you disagree with our Nations Policies, write the letters, cast your votes, but always STAND UNITED as one Nation and let everyone know how great we really are! And don't touch my Pledge of Allegiance or my Flag!!!

The American money, in the beginning of the United States, was based upon the people of the time. Many were deeply involved in their church and putting 'In God We Trust' was very appropriate. We've grown so very much since then and up until today - those words have never been an issue. They're only an issue now because of the terrorists and Mexicans - if they don't like what we engrave on our money then they can go back to where they came from. If I were to decide to move to another country; I would accept their rules/laws and their money - it would not be any of my business to change what they have been using since the creation of their country. I do like your 'In God We Trust and If You Don't Like It You Can Leave'.

No, it gives another excuse for a business to lobby the government to remake the currency, and swindle the taxpayer

Nope. i think of we ought to consistently in basic terms take it off funds all jointly. It wasn't there initially besides. "before the days of credit and debit enjoying cards, one used to ascertain signs and indicators resembling "In God we believe, all others pay funds" in diners, provider stations, food shops, and a great sort of alternative institutions, of course enjoying at using the motto "In God We believe" that's on our funds and paper forex. it ought to come as a marvel to many youthful or maybe not so youthful persons that this became not consistently so, that the standard use of "In God We believe" on US funds did not initiate till 1908, "In God We believe" became not made an professional motto of united statesa. till 1956, and the motto did not look on paper funds till 1957. "in assessment to the announcement of Independence, and extremely intentionally, the form of united statesa. includes not a single connection with a deity or to divine proposal. This became, of direction, by way of genius of the founding fathers who observed in Europe and someplace else the strife that have been engendered by using the adoption of professional religions in practically all old international international places."

It sounds more realistic. The thing is, though, that I can't see what kind of "God" can be appeased by President Bullshit.
