It's already possible.
The internet service known as PayPal offers the option of linking via your mobile phone. You can actually buy something on Ebay for example, and pay for it via PayPal using your mobile phone service.
I don't know what you have to do to sign up for it, but it can be done.

what do you mean by future? They are doing it now in Japan. They even have some phones you just swipe infront of a scanner to pay for stuff at stores. I even heard you just have to send a text message to a coke machine to get a soda out. Well If you are talking about in the united states I look for it in the next few years.

More than likely providing it is a contract phone and not pay as you go you will properly need some sort of pin to prove that the phone is yours

Great u have been saved it is possible 2 live without a mobile.also u have smashed it in time before yu get addicted to it so try keeping a landline so that others will share the burden of having to take all the crank calls'

if you look on paypal you can buy items using your mobile phone.
I have not tried it yet but they say you can.

you can currently do this using paypal.co.uk through your mobile phone

probably, as u can pay for things like msn backgrounds and winks and stuff, so, yea, most probably!
