no i wouldn't bring our troops home at this time since it would mean that the 2700 casulties so far suffered by troops would mean that those sacrifices were pointless. the US needs to stay the course for a while longer so that Iraq can get a grip on the religios faction violence. therefore as president i would not bring the troops home at this time and would ask the public to send gifts to the troops along with support

I would not bring all the troops home. I would establish a base for quick response to emergency needs that the Iraqi troops can't handle. Approximately 20,000. The remainder would initially be redeployed to Afghanistan to eliminate the Taliban once and for all.
After that, I would work with the Iraqis to establish a tripartate government - a federal society of three predominantly autonomous regions - one Sunni, one Shi'ite, one Kurdish. A federal council would divide oil revenue, control currency, and establish a national army for the sole purposes of border protection. Each region would establish its own laws (that heed the Federal Constitution), and have its own police force (that heeds the Federal Constitution).
This might establish peace. It might encourage people to move from their homelands, and that's not necessarily a good thing, but we have to try something different.
(And, yes, this is essentially the Joe Biden plan as outlined in the Washington Post last month - I'm not trying to take credit for it.)

Probably a good thing I am not the president. I would give all the Liberals a heart atttack. I would bring the troops home as soon as the job was done. BUT before they came home I would line the Syrian border with Armored Divisions and tell them that if the Insurgents managed to keep coming thru their borders and they kept supplying them with weapons, I was going to turn their countries into a trash pile and a rubbish heap. Want to bet that things would get quiet fast? The only reason they are willing to fight us is they don't believe the American Public has the stomach for a long fight.

Yes I would bring them home immediately. Apologize for what the last fool has done. Offer to pay for damages. Set up a committee that will oversee diplomatic relations with the new country.
Look at Viet Nam, The U.S. pulled out of there and here they are 25 years later a thriving country with McDonalds, Burger King and a big tourism industry.
Life will go on.

I for one would have never invaded Iraq however if I inherited the current mess I would say "oops," and in the same breath say to the Moslem World, "your mess, you deal with," and order the troops home ASAP. They would be gone in a Month.
(However, I could see 'renting' out America's Military Might. If Saudi Arabia wanted troops and if troops 'volunteered' to serve, then let Saudi Arabia or any other country pay for 'em. It would be one way to whack down the deficit.)
Peace....

We are not privy to what is actually going on in regards to troop movement. But I certainly wouldn't pull them out. I may rearrange them a bit, but not bring them home yet. It is to the benefit of our national security that they stay in the region for now.

Well yes but not till they are done with the job. They would come home when all or at least most of the terrorist and extreemists are dead or in prison. I would also loosen the rules for war. No more whining about civilians and innocent dead.

if I were president we wouldn't be over there right now, if I were president we would all be celebrating in a time of peace and economical growth
