Why do people blame restaurants for obesity?
I thought people were free to choose what they eat-and what happened to eating at home??

I will agree that people need to start having responsibility for what they eat and how much, especially when going to a restaurant. It isn't the restaurant that is putting all of that food in the person's mouth! Most people don't realize how many calories are in restaurant food, or how much oil or butter something is cooked in.
On the other hand, I do believe that restaurants had a small part by making the "normal" portion size increase. People could eat half of what they order and that would probably be enough, and take the rest home for lunch tomorrow.

It's called lack of personal responsibility. For example: You go to Mc Donald's and order a cup of hot coffee. You spill it on yourself, and then turn around and sue the company...
We have a litigeous society, and one that teaches, through experience, that one need not take the blame for one's own poor choice(s).
Many Americans don't have a clue about how to prepare a healthy, satisfying meal, and just as many are not interested in trying to. The vast majority of us are suffering from various forms of depression; obesity, stress, overworking, financial frustration, and conspicuous consumption.
Last year, I walked out on a stressful career after 16 years, and promptly had a meltdown. Once the issue of "taking on everyone else's responsibilities" was brought to the forefront, I chose to remain out of the teaching profession, and have actually found that we make money by me NOT working outside of the home. Strange, but all I was doing was working for Uncle Sam and subsidizing the public education system.

Its not the restaurant, its the people that go there. They have no control over what goes in there food.

because it's easier to blame someone else for what they put in their bodies than to look in the mirror and say "I need to change my eating habits."

So true! I guess because they're so lazy and FAT and don't see the whole picture. Denial basically is what I see. Tsk tsk tsk.
