Question about hourly wage?
My husband just started a new job and his hourly job wage was set at $12.00 an hour. His boss made a rule that if you are late to work then your hourly wage for the pay period (two weeks) will be the federal minimum wage. I feel that the agreed upon rate is a verbal contract and the boss has broken that contract. Although I must admit, it is a great insentive not the be late for work. I'm wondering if its legal to cut a persons wages in this manor.

your husband needs to call wage and labor board. Something kind of like this happen to a friend of mine. He gave his two week notice because he recieved another job. When he got his last paycheck, his pay was minimum wage, when he was recieving well over $15/hour. He called the wage/labor and he filed a complaint. Not only did he get the rest of his money, he also also got compensation for the waiting he had to do just to get his money.

Check his contract. If it is not in the contract then I would sue the boss for breach of contract. This sort of thing is very illegal but employers get away with it because people don't defend their legal rights.

If I would be told that I woudln't take the job. I'd look else where and report his slavin butt to the labor board.

Ever try to use a "verbal" contract in court?
They are useless.

I would definitely look into this, if I was you or your husband. That just doesn't seem right.
