Bush was placed in office by the Supreme Court the 1st election, barely won the 2nd. No mandate, agreed?
The man pretends he has a mandate. This is not true.
The legitimacy of the 1st election doesn't matter. My point is, he is supposed to be leading the entire country, and moderating some positions based on the fact that these were THE CLOSEST ELECTIONS IN US HISTORY.
Instead he makes his decisions as if presuming the whole nation agrees with his position, as if he got in by landslide. I believe that is because he is incapable of understanding the concept of mandate, or of moderation.
Does anyone think he has a mandate?
If you DO think that Bush has a mandate.... doesn't the very concept of mandate become meaningless? That is, if you get in, you're in, and we should dispense with the word "mandate" altogether. Correct?

I would say regardless of the outcome of the first election, he recieved his mandate from the public by way of 9/11 (the so-called "rally around the flag" effect in times of national crisis). I would further argue that he then proceeded to squander that mandate faster than your average lotto winner squanders his/her winnings.

Doesn't matter if you think he has a mandate or not. He is the President of the United States, therefore he has the power to make all the decisions that come with the office. You people need to stop with all of the hate Bush crap. It's really getting old. Can't you think of anything new to complain about? Or how about talking about issues? Oh that's right....you could never win an argument on issues now could you?

He is the President - is he supposed to invite Congress and the House to tea every time he makes a decision? For crying out loud, no one would be able to decide what type of TEA to serve, let alone agree on anything of importance!
He is mandated by the fact that he IS the President.

He won BOTH elections (I know it still hurts you...) and as the winner he carries out the mandate of the Republican Party(Ouch! Need a Kleenex?). I don't recall any Presidents carrying out the other Parties mandates... maybe I missed somethin'...

Completely disagree.
The S. Ct. ratified the State's power over their own election after the 1st.
The US made certain there was no confusion the 2nd.
Get over it.

I would argue BOTH elections were stolen. Not a thing can convince me otherwise. I see him as more of a willfully ignorant narciscistic bully who is currious about.... ... nothing.
We are "led" by an egotistical posturing con artist - for whom power is an end in itsself.

He has no mandate. You are correct! He's not even a man in my opinion. I see him as a selfish creature from some other planet--not Venus though.
