What do graphic, violent dreams mean?
Since I was a kid, my dreams have been graphic, horror stories. I could seriously make a couple of movies about them.

It means that you have some unresolved anger and / or rage from the past, perhaps childhood. It may be against someone close to you, like a parent, or sibling -- someone that you subconsciously consider it "taboo" to really, REALLY express your anger to them in real life. Therefore it's "acted out" (released) during your dreams, as a safety valve.
Please go see a therapist, or other trusted counselor, with whom you can explore this. You will need someone to lean on, as you go through this. You must be able to express and resolve whatever is bugging you, in a safe, trusting, and confidential environment. Otherwise, this will go on through your life, and may even interfere with intimate relationships. This is your subconscious tugging on your sleeve, letting you know that there is something that was done to you, at a young age, which was a gross injustice.

Often survivors of abuse suffer violent dreams.
If you want to understand your dream, my suggestion is to look at the symbols in the dreams and try to figure out what they mean. Mental health therapists nowadays have their patients analyze their own dreams. since I don't know what your dream include, it is impossible for me to even make suggestions.
the only thing I can ask is, who is the victim of the violence? That will give you a start.

Are they recurring? The same dream over and over?
If so they represent a major fear not necessarily fear of the things happening in the dream.
I used to have these three dreams over and over. The premise was the same I had to cross a high bridge, or was on a tall building with no walls, or was in a plane in bad weather.
I finally figured out that I was afraid to take charge of my life and left it to the man in my life to take care of everything.
I have since changed that (immature) behavior and viola! No more dreams.

I wish I knew the answer because I had a very ugly bloody dream myself the other night, and have one every once in a while, it shakes me up real bad. I think it's that I am feeling like something in my life is out of control.

ITS THE STRESS AND OR INNER ANGER THAT U HAVE NOT EXPRESSED. EITHER THAT OR U HAVE A VOODO CURSE MY SUGGESTION WOULD BE TO CALL THE PHYSIC HOT LINE AND BEFORE THEY START CHARGING U GO WASH UR HANDS IN FLOUR AND WATER INSTEAD OF AFTER THEY START CHARGING U AND TOLD U TO PUT THE PHONE DOWN AND WASH WITH FLOUR AND WATER ..OH YAH U HAVE TO MAKE SURE IT ALL COMES OFF FOR THE CURSE TO BE GONE. HAHAH SOME PEOPLE FALL FOR THAT WHILE THE BILL JUST RINGS UP..

It probably signifies that you're plagued by insurmountable obstacles in your life i.e. stress, problems, etc.
Sometimes it's your subconscious telling you to stop and smell the roses.
Maybe you've been having too much on your plate lately and you need to step back & slow it down a little.

it could mean that you are just a very emotional person, and have lots of feelings and thoughts that you express through your dreams. also, everyones different. some cant remember any of their dreams, and some have very vivid ones all the time. so it could just be the way you are.
