Is there anyone else out here who thinks there are way too many folks asking Pet questions ....?

Who else out here feels there are way too many people signing on in this forum asking serious Pet/Animal questions that should be seeing a VET instead,.and way too many idiots giving out rediculous and incorrect answers to those often life threatening situations??!!

It is just common sense that if you have a dog who is not eating or drinking and laying there you see a VET!!! Or a rabbit having seizures.. you dont wait an hour THEN sign into Yahoo and ask complete strangers what should I do?

I realize maybe some can not afford the VET.. but then You should NOT have those animals. If youc ant afford to take care of them .. DONT GET THEM!

Am I the only one out here who comes on and sees this every time they sign in and just cant beleive it?

Oh and lets not forget the ones asking for Medical diagnosis or advice from " vet Techs or Vets only" Please

NOBODY can make a diagnosis without seeing the animal.. And how would you know they are even VETS!????

So who else feels this way!?

Update:

Ok.. I dont mean advice or questions... Should I travel with my turtle or what kind of reptile to get.. how can I help an injured wild animal etc.. Or they have seen a VET and stillhaving trouble and so on

Then This is a great resource...!! really!!

I mean the ones where somebody's animal is suffering and serioulsy ill,, and they have not yet so much as called a VET! If your rabbit is lifeless and shaking you dont sign online you go to the VET...

I see too many things where time is an issue that can affect the outcome and they are online rather than getting proper help.

Its frustrating for me is all...

    I SOOO agree with you.

If you can't afford the vet you can't afford the pet. As harsh as that sounds, it's what I live by. BTW, get a vet who accepts payments on a plan. Most vets who are worth seeing won't turn away a seriously injured or sick animal just because of the owners inability to pay in full.

Why would a person leave a guinea pig to suffer for 3 1/2 days and then log on here to ask for suggestions to get her mind off of her piggie for a while?

Who would have the nerve to sit down at the computer to ask a question about a bleeding animal while the animal is still bleeding?

And why would anyone feel compelled to answer a question they have to start out like this: " I've never had a *****, but I know someone who knows someone and I THINK I've heard....."

Answers like this render this forum useless. It is very frustrating.

This is the Internet however and I always compare the Internet to a walk down Mainstreet, Anywhere in the World. You'll encounter ALL kinds and not all of us are rocket scientists, Lord knows I'm not. So, we'll just have to take the good with the bad, hopefully have enough common sense to distinguish between the two and run an occasional interference when we see someone spread absolute garbage that could end up hurting another.

Keep up the good work and don't let it get to you. I'm trying, like you and I tell the truth as I know and see it. Sometimes that comes across as being rude and people don't like it. So be it. I always tell them that if they don't like hearing the truth they shouldn't be posting their affairs on the Internet.

    Have a great weekend.

I would agree with you to a point. However, why regard with contempt people who ask questions on the net. Perhaps for you and for me, going to the vet is the obvious answer. I have a wonderful vet who looks after my pets better than most doctors look after human patients. I trust him 100%. But not everyone is so lucky. I have heard some horror stories and if I weren't so blessed, I too would be on Yahoo answers picking people's brains. There is nothing like the voice of experience. We must also remember that many are first time pet owners, and when something happens, they get scared. They want reassurance, that's all. And if the respondents all say 'take the animal to the vet', they probably will and of course, the best part is that they'll go there mentally prepared. Let's try to be more understanding shall we?

I agree with you to a point, there are a lot of ignorant answers, but you do need to come down off your high horse a little bit. Telling people that if you can't afford the vet then don't get an animal? Sometimes things come up or happen to people and at that moment they may not be able to afford a vet. Or, like where I'm located, there aren't any emergency vets within an hour of here. So, are they just supposed to get rid of their pet and dump it at an overcrowded shelter to be "humanely" euthanized?

And, as already stated, I think a lot of people are just scared and want some reassurance. A lot of people don't handle stress very well. And a sick or injured pet is stressful for either financial reasons or compassion for their pet. If your lucky, you'll never have to be in a situation like that, and not be able to afford it. AND, obviously you haven't figured it out, but a lot of these posts are from kids/teenagers that need to rely on their parents to do something. Good luck to you.

These people have a reason for the questions they ask. Some really don't know and I would rather try to help them than have them sit and do nothing while their pet suffers. Others want to do something to help their pet but don't have the funds to run to the vet every time their dog/cat/etc. gets a cough. There are many home remedies to help your pet and I assume that is the advise they are seeking. Yes it's fine and dandy to say if you can't afford vet care don't get the pet. Not gonna happen so it is best to help them as best you can. Took me a long time to learn that. Yes some people do give outrageous advise. Lets hope they read all the replies and make a smart decision.

  • sometimes it takes time to get in to see a vet just like a doctors appt. at least they may get some kind of advice that helps them to do whats best until they can see a vet who knows when a vet is actually own this site and can give them legitimate advice its nice to know that so many people care so much about their pets and are concerned enough to ask at all have a nice day

I think many people are afraid, worried and feel helpless when their furry friends aren't well, and they reach out to anyone who can offer them direction, advice and comfort ... if just to confirm their understanding that a vet should be consulted. Some people are experienced pet owners and can offer such comfort and advise, non-professional as it is.

And we can pray for these questioners, and their pets, too... which is what I always do ... even if I have no advice to give.

I understand your frustration, though ... sigh.

Well i always thought that your on the internet..so use it, why ask strangers when you can do some proper research.

But anyone who takes the serious question(vet techs only ect) answers literaly cant be too bright.

This sight is mainly for ideas from other people, like names ect, any one wanting real serious advice should take suggestions only.

I agree. There are too many people here who give ridiculous answers. If you have a question about your pet's health then ask your vet, not some people online who give you incorrect information.

Well, maybe some people can't afford to go to a vet, and they are trying to find out if there is something they can do at home that is affordable!!

Hey, theres some real selfcentered idiots out there. I'm sure glad to discover we have so many Judges out there. If your so put out with what you read, why are you on this site anyway. Maybe it gives you something to bitc_ about. Looks like you could put your energy else where, rather than trying to convince us how much smarter and better you are. You must really be board.
