on my 97 grand marque how can i tell if my wiper motor went?

my wipers don't work neither do the cleaning solution. i had recently replaced the switch. the wiper for weeks would act strange. the blades wouldn't go down al the way and sometimes would just stop half way up and after i turned it on and off it would go somewhat down but it would work. today it just stoped. do you think the problem is the motor or switch

Check the fuse first. Then use a test light to see if you have voltage to the wiper motor. If so, then more than likely the motor went. Sounds like the case from your description! However, ther are mechanical linkages so you need to check to see if something is going on with that like a keeper came off stripped the output shaft, or one of the linkage broke etc. I also see lots of wiper arms stripped also because people get this incideous idea that they can grab them while in motion to snap snow off etc! It generally strips the spline and then just turns inside the arm.

I agree with notaclue. It sounds like a wiper motor issue. As already advised, check for power and ground first. If ciruitry is good, it sounds like you need a new wiper motor.
