wisdom teeth pain?

Is there anything to reduce the pain of wisdom teeth? Oddly enough, my wisdom teeth are coming out now, when I am in my thirties.

I saw my dentist couple days ago, and he said that they are coming out straight, that there is more than enough room for them, and that I should let them grow and not have surgery.y thirties. He adviced me to try OTC and natural remedies for the pain while they're coming out. Any ideas what might alleviate the pain, besides OTC numbing drops and liquid?

It is driving me super crazy. It is not very painful, but it's extremely annoying. The OTC anesthetics help with the pain, but they numb my whole mouth and make me drool, which is kind of bad when I am in the middle of a business meeting. Any advice would be greatly appreciate.

In addition to any topical numbing agents, consider this. Does it hurt more when you close your mouth? If so, ask your dentist to just lightly trim the sharp point off of your upper wisdom teeth. They would wear away VERY quickly if they had a tooth to bite against, but without opposing tooth contact, they just keep poking your bottom gums. This is SO easy to do and helps SO much - if that's the problem.

Or - if they are going to come in okay, you might consider having the gum flap removed surgically to just get it over with. If your general dentist does not do this, an oral surgeon would have either an electro-surgery unit or a laser to very quickly remove the tissue. It sounds kind of gross, I know, but if I ever do this to someone on one side of their mouth and they sstart to have trouble with the other side, they call IMMEDIATELY and ask to have that side trimmed also, so it's not that bad. §

Ibuprofen has always worked best for tooth pain for me, but you don't want to take too much, too often. How long before you have insurance? A lot of dentists will make payment arrangements with you, if you have a means to pay. Are you working at all? Could your parents or family help you? Sorry, I know how miserable tooth pain can be.

    haha,

I'm 14, and had my wisdom teeth taken out last year. Kinda crazyyy..

I know it hurts a lot, be sure to put ice, even if you think you don't need it. You will be so swollen if you don't. I got presciption pain killers...Try Tylenol? Or Advil? Something...

Tea and Ramen Noodles helps too..

Otherwise, just lay down and watch movies. It does suck.

these are old fashioned remedies that work. try using the spice Cloves with a q-tip dip in cloves and use on tooth, for immediate relief.

Get some peroxide, and start right now rinsing you mouth with it. continue to alternate these to things and eventually this will prevent any infections

the peroxide will pull help prevent infection and the cloves will kill the pain. Good luck.

I understand about the drool. It can be more annoying than the pain. Try Ibuprofen or Motrin for the pain.

Ice directly on the gum often helps as well.
