Why do Republicans lump Democrats into one big group of "losers"?
I know this is going to get some things started, because I've seen the posts. I have a very real question though. I've noticed that occasionally, more often than not, Democrats make stupid comments on here about Republicans and religion. Then, the Republicans respond by lumping all of the Democrats into one stereotypical group.
For instance, I've heard someone call us something like, "drug-abusing, teenage impregnating, burger flippers". Why do you insist on calling ALL of us that, when only one person has made that comment?
In fact, my husband and I are both Democrats. My husband is an Engineer, and I am a stay at home mom with my own business (and a "liberal arts" degree...which another Republican mocked). Neither of us have ever flipped burgers, we don't do drugs, and I got pregnant after marriage at 25. So, really, why attack an entire politican party?
Oh, and the last time I checked, our President did drugs...so I would keep that one out of it.

I agree with you. It's a huge problem on here.
BUT the liberal Democrats do it too. I'm not saying that they always start it, but in many cases, they do.
Know this:
There are just as many decent Democrats (like yourself, from the sound of things) as there are decent Republicans.
It's just that the children here (and there are children, on each side!) scream the loudest.
Voices of reason simply need to be louder.

I would guess that if you did a search concerning the blatant name calling and generalization of Republicans compared to Democrats you would find that the left leaning Democrats are by far the winners in the name calling and generalization. Yes, the Democratic President Bill Clinton admitted to drug use. President Bush admitted to a alcohol use. One did a number of illegal things; even lying under oath. The other made a very poor judgment call; driving while under the influence of alcohol. I think you epitomize the Democratic Party (a generalization) with the last two sentences of your first paragraph. Democrats make inflammatory comments and then its the Republicans that are the bad guys. Strange how that trickle down theory of Pres Reagan's does so well in the mindless, hypocrisy shown at every level of the DNC.

Republicans respond by lumping all Dems into one stereotypical group? Aren't you lumping all Republicans into a group when you say that? Do all Republicans do that? We're talking about politics which in the US is primarily split into to parties. It's difficult to speak to a group without using these phrases.
I said that Republican would fix your car not a liberal arts major. It was joke (hence the "lol"). I was a liberal arts major. If you notice the question was whether or not Republican should get liver cancer. Take it for what it's worth.

I think you are lumping political parties into what is essentially the difference between conservatives and liberals views.

Unfortunately categorizing everyone in one category makes it easier for people to argue their point. If everyone realized that there are people in each party representing a wide spectrum of opinions it would make if more difficult to make their point. It would make them have to think more a make a rationale argument instead of childish name calling.

Well stated. Republicans tend to like to wrap things up in small easy to remember (simple) names or terms.

Both parties are losers in my opinion. My blog explains it.
