Traditionally, wrens are seen as good luck...but do they make a fuss or are they peacefull most of the time??? This makes a difference....

Last year there were a couple wrens that would sleep either together or in opposite corners (depending on how well they got along that day I guess..lol) of our front porch. This fall, they've returned, only now they're sleeping together in a hanging flower pot on the back porch. I never thought of it before, but about the time they arrived, I did start having some really bad luck that doesn't seem to want to go away...I don't remember if anything changed last year when they were here. However, I really don't think they're an omen of anything. Wrens just like sleeping in places like that.

House wrens are usually good omens. They'll nest anywheres (a tea cup, a shoe, a nest box, your good hat) but they are migratory so if you're further south than I am (I'm in a rather cold damp Wisconsin) you have a good chance of keeping your wrens until spring. As for signs and omens, wrens were seen as a bird of protection (even as small as they are). Enjoy them.
