How do I stop POP-UPS?
I have windows firewall, Yahoo pop up blocker on. This stops many, but some, such as system doctor, get through. I'm fed up being told my computers has errors, adult files, etc on it, cos it hasn't. I have done virus and spyware scans - all clean.
Seems like a modern day money wth menaces, pay us and we might go away.

Hi there,
Whatever you do, DO NOT follow any of the links which these pop-ups are trying to direct you to. This will simply lead to yet another malware payload being downloaded to your PC and the infections will not be removed.
To remove all these infections and stay protected from these in the future, download the Free Trial of Prevx1. This has recently been reported as having the strongest protection and cleanup capabilities of all security solutions available today. This will scan your PC and remove all these infections free of charge:

You can buy the full version of Panicware Pop-Up-Stopper Pro, or download the 30 day free trial. They block all pop up windows and allow you to open windows/java with the 'Control' key, or assign your own key.
Yes all the Yahoo, MSN, Google, pop-up blockers will still give you the dumb pop-ups you describe. A 3rd party program such as Panicware and Mozilla Firefox is the only way to pop-up free browsing.

You could go to the following website to check that nothing really bad is lurking on your computer at:
http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/ubbthreads.php/Cat...
Register, go to the Hijack This Forum, read the instructions on how to post a log, give a brief description of your problem (like you've just typed) and post your log there. You must post a HijackThis log as per the instructions, not just your problem. The guys in there are fantastic and trustworthy and will guide you through in getting rid of anything nasty from your computer. Good luck!
Or you could try this free pop up blocker which is much better than Yahoo's or MS's version http://panicware.com/product_psfree.html

Go to Control panel/Internet options, toggle to increase your privacy level.
Install Spyware sweeper. I have found hands down the best pop-up blocker out there.
Be careful what sites you visit.
Do not open email from unknown sources.
Run clean-up at least once a week. I prefer Norton security systems.

Get somehing better then all the free suff (use that as backup) try getting Kaspersky AV, and either Spy Sweeper or SpyDocotr. Then switch to Opera broswer or Firefox browser as those will have less pop-ups.

The way you describe it, I reckon you have some malware running.
Disconnect from the network, turn off wireless networking, turn off system restore, boot into safe mode and do a complete virus and malware scan.
