Both MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas and Sloan Memorial Kettering in NY offer studies of alternative/complementary medicine. They focus basically on cancer claims and have found some merit in some remedies. Nothing conclusive though.
The National Institute of Health also has a branch called The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine that is investigating the uses of herbal remedies for various diseases.

many of these remedies have been proven! even using double blind cross over studies. If u search herbs on the net always include the words "materia medica" this simply means medical matters and is what herbalists use to study herbs..some are better than other though..or why not search the medline database

I know I had a bad case of Bronchitis a few years ago and took a couple things, including marshmallow essence and used eucalyptus candles, and it seemed to work fine.

Scientists who work mostly for pharmacutical companies have no interest in proving these things. Five thousand years of Chinese Medicine has got to say something positive to you. I don't know who said this but it is relevant here, "For those who want to believe no proof is necessary, for those who do not want to believe no proof is enough." FYI I have used everything that you mentioned with success. Try it.

Well, no pharmaceutical companies do research on herbal remedies, so don't expect "proof". In any case research can only determine probability not absolutes.
