Need to cut branches from a large & tall tree in my backyard?

I have a very large tree in my backyard. Every time there is a storm (including one just last night), one or more large branches falls off. After the last storm, 2 big branches are partially broken and will fall off any day or minute. Are there any private services that can come in and cut branches from a tree or possibly get rid of the whole tree? I would love to do this myself, but the tree is too tall. Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't know where you live, so I can't tell you exactly what services are available. Check your local phone book, or the classified ads to see what is available in your area. A lot of local lumber stores have rental programs by the hour/day/week for items to help with projects. We just recently rented a cherry picker type machine to help lift and get us up to the tree where we needed to cut the branches. Good Luck!

yes, check the phone book or the internet under landscaping/maintanence or tree service or removal.

Taller the tree, higher the price to trim/cut or prune.Make sure the company is bonded and insured. You need to have it done in November or Decemeber when the tree is domant. Also it's easier to see the branches when all the leaves have fallen off.

Look-up Davey Tree Service and/or Asplundh Tree Service. Check 'em out on-line.

In United States look in phone book for a Certified Arborist. Will not be cheap, but they are insured and know what they are doing. Beware of so-called tree trimmers. especially if you are going to try to save the trimmed tree.

Attempting this yourself is too dangerous.

You could try calling your City Hall, they may do it for you or suggest some one that could. If that branch falls on some one you could be held responsible. I would do this as soon as possible.

I don't know where you live, but there are tree services almost everywhere. Look in the yellow pages or google "tree services in .........."
