according to 1 John 2:22-23

oppose:to act against or provide resistance to; combat.

deny:To refuse to believe; reject.

that scripture says

"For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist." 2 John 1:7

Lots of little anti-christs everywhere, but the BIG PLAYER is still to come and on his way.

Actually, the verse in revelation is better translated as the "Counterfeit-Christ" If you notice the Anti-Christ will ride on a white horse, with a bow, but no arrows. He will be a model leader that will deceive the nations with a message of unity and peace. Jesus Christ will come back to judge the living and the dead, but He will arrive on a white horse and will bear the name faithful and true. If you study the book of revelation I'm sure you will find very interesting things about it, as it reveals the truth of God's plan. If any of you think that it is too confusing and more of a fairy tale, then you must first realize that the apostle John was exiled on the Isle of Patmos in the Med. Sea by Rome and had to write down the prophecies in a type of Code that would be similar to the prophecies in the OT book of Daniel so that the true Christians could understand it, but the roman guards who were keeping him jailed would think it was merely a madman's story.

I highly recommend the study named "Escape the Coming Night" by Dr. David Jeremiah. He is an excellent bible teacher.

By the way, John was writing in 1 John warnings to the early church because of the Judiazers and gnostic false prophets that were perverting the true Gospel of Christ. This is why he was using the term Anti-Christ. He wasn't referring to the final Anti-Christ that will be shown during the Great Tribulation.

Actually your quote is not the reality. As is the case many times, people tend to quote various versions of the Bible. The Bible has been changed revised and rewritten with league approval by the churches and its original commissioning more than 16000 times. Every year in Virginia, reps from all the protestant churches meet to discuss, put to committee and open forum, translation of the words that make up the various adhered-to-versions of the Bible. And every year they change about 1% of it. The passage you submit was originally in Aramaich, and was two words, which translated means "opposed to Christ." So you are correct. However, the passage most people refer to is in Revelations, and was written in Ancient Greek, and means the "reverse of Christ." Now all of these translations in Aramaich, Ancient Hebrew are up for debate, because Aramaich was a tribal language without a city and was never a truly written language. Ancient Hebrew did not have conjugation of verbs and depended on how the speaker told the words in context to his hand movement. So, you see why very little in the Bible can be construed verbatim without a great deal of study. Besides that, the Bible is not a book written by one person. It is a journal with partial writings in some instances, constructed and reconstructed during political restriction and prohibition over 500 hundred years ago only, but MEN decided what would be included and what would be excluded.

There have been, are now and will be in the future many Anti Christs. 1st John 2: 22 tells us who the Anti Christ is. In this verse John tells us that every one that denies God and His Son is the Anti Christ. God bless

You are misinterpreting the verse. It does not say opposes. It says denies the Father and the Son. AntiChrist does not oppose God. He wants to be God. Anti means in place of, not against. Please note, it has ever been Satan's goal to be God (Isaiah 14:12-14) This has not changed as Satan working through the antiChrist power seeks to usurp God's authority here on earth, demanding worship (Revelation 13:8) and proclaiming to be God (2 Thessalonians 2:4) AntiChrist's opposition to God is as a rival for the worship of mankind. Satan wants to be God. The final question will be "choose you this day whom you will serve" God and His laws of Satan and man's laws.

Huh. I wonder where that puts me? I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, yet I am not a Christian. He's the real deal, but I do not follow him.

    Interesting.

It is true that anyone who goes against God's word is "a" anti-christ, but they are not "The" antichrist.

Anti-Christ can be a general term to describe anyone who is against Christ. Thus the name, anti-Christ. However it is mentioned that there is "The" anti christ.

You present a good example of the limits that ignorance imposes on people. You need to present a good arguement for your literal interpretation. You assume that just because you interpret the passage that way that is the only possible way. Prove it.

    You cannot do it.

And that is why fundamentalism is spiritually bankrupt.
