What is up with Yahoo's removing Answers content - obviously without checking the merit of the complaint?

OK - So I've been using this site for a couple of months, now. I've answered a few hundred questions and have a not-too-shabby record on "Best Answers."

Yesterday, out of the blue, I received a warning and had an answer deleted for "threatening bodily harm." I, of course, did no such thing, but some goober who disagreed with something I said obviously reported me for it (don't they call this 'bearing false witness?'). Now that I think of it, maybe they didn't like being referred to as a "goober."

Why do I find this so maddening? I, of course, sent an appeal e-mail to the abuse fairy, but the automated "we'll look into it when we find the time" response I received (a day later) doesn't satisfy my need for righteous retribution.

The person who reported this answer for abuse was quite clearly in violation of the "You may not report abuse for posts that you personally disagree with" guideline. What email daemon in the sky is going to slap this anonymous person's wrist?

Yes, it's a drag when this happens, and an even bigger drag that responding as the notification suggests never does anyone any good.

(Most people who complain about removal DID, in fact violated the guidelines, but the group who deals with this stuff just doesn't communicate with real abusers, or with victims of abuse abuse, which is just wrong.)

You could go to the forum and post the details of your case. They might clear it up for you. Especially do this if you start getting a lot of bogus removals.

Sometimes the person on staff who reads the reports makes a boo-boo, that's all I can say.

Mostly, shrug, sigh, and go back to answering questions.

I in simple terms had a glance at your Q&A. there became one insulting answer by a troll which you've gotten pronounced. You asked a question approximately how lots you may earn as a Walmart stocker, and 2 answerers observed (with courtesy) you are able to desire to no longer do the interest in case you have been incapable of doing hassle-loose arithmetic (i.e. $7.25 x variety of hours worked). That became no longer insulting - it became a fact of actuality. i think it became those solutions you got here across insulting: "in case you are able to not do hassle-loose math, you have gotten issues getting a job as a stocker. lots of the interest is dealing with inventory, and that's all math - common straightforward college math like your minimum salary project. You neglected to respond to how many hours each week you will artwork. They hardly positioned anybody on fulltime, quite to start. So there isn't any answer on your question till you comprehend some estimate of hours each week you will artwork." "could I recommend you flow returned to college and study math on condition that each interest you get you will could renowned it, notwithstanding in case you artwork a money sign in, are in retail, inventory, etc. Get your self a teach." And this became your respond: "Oh. My. God. look, people. i did no longer come right here to be insulted. rattling, why can not you people ever in simple terms answer a question with out insulting somebody?" Frankly, in case you got here across those 2 effective replies insulting, you would be greater suitable off chatting with a therapist approximately your shallowness themes. Edit: thank you for proving my factor.

If you want to have his wrist slapped, perhaps you should report him for inaccurately reporting you...

Certainly, Yahoo doesn't have the manpower to be hunting them all down (or this site would be something different all together!), so you'll need to make them aware of it.

Yeah, it's a pain in the @$$. Someone asks for an opinion and the reports people that don't agree with their opinion.
