Are you a driver who doesn't use his/her Turn Signal? If you don't, why?

I find that hardly anyone in my city uses his or her turn signal. I personally feel it's a necessary and courteous aspect of driving. Please tell me reasons why you don't use yours, if you don't.

I never ever do. No one else does either. I think it's city driving. People can see me slowing down, they'll figure it out.

When you think about it for a minute, you can see most signaling is un-necessary if everyone were following at a safe distance or changed lanes only when safe.

If I'm getting ready to turn right, and notice the guy behind me is already signaling a right turn, what's the point of ME signaling?

If I want to change lanes, and I KNOW the guy in that lane will speed up if I signal, what's the point of signaling?

And so on, and so on, etc etc.

I WILL signal if somebody NEEDS to know to avoid a collision

Actually I do use mine, but when I see another driver with their turn signal on I don't believe they are really going to turn. I won't pull out in front of them. I've seen too many with turn signals on that go straight. I've also seen them in places where there is no where to turn with their turn signal on...for miles.

It's not only courteous, it's the law.

I have a bumper sticker on my car: turn signals are not optional equipment.

I use mine all the time but I've asked myself the same question you asked numerous times. The only reasonable answer I could come up with is it must be "optional" equipment on some vehicles!

I don't use it unless I need to change lanes, or if I see a cop.
