Wellwood for Jordan Staal?
Should I drop Wellwood for J. Staal? I heard Staal got promoted to the Pen's second line. But Wellwood is clicking well with Sundin. I also have Crosby, Malkin, and Eric Staal on my team.

Never load up on one team, it's a rule. You were right to ask the question. Jordan Staal has the higher ceiling, but Wellwood has a much bigger buffer to make mistakes. If Wellwood messes up, he'll still be given lots of power play time. If Staal messes up, back to the minors! Staal is getting his goals short handed, meaning he's working his butt off for them, but also relying mainly on his speed. Wellwood however, is using skill skill and skill. He's working on his confidence. The more confident he gets, the more points you'll see.

I'd take Jordan Staal over Wellwood. Staal has scored 3 short handed goals. Pretty good for a rookie.

I wouldn't, because Wellwood will be playing with Sundin for probably the whole year, since they don't have many other weapons. Pittsburgh, however, has so many weapons in front of Staal (Crosby, Malkin, Armstrong, Ekman, Recchi, Leclair, Oullet).

Staal will be on the second line for a while until Malone's wrist heals (6-8) weeks, and even after that, he's going to have improved and maybe stay there. I have watched all of the Penguins games so far this year, and he does wonders on penalty kills, so ya you should get him.
Edit: He won't get sent down to the minors, and armstrong/ekman/leclair aren't performing as well as he is.

The problem with Staal is that he's a couple of games away from having his NHL contract kick in. If that happens, it will add a couple of extra million to the Pens payroll for this year. The talk is that they will send him down before his contract kicks in to avoid taking the hit this year. They may bite the bullet but the Pens history suggests they will send him down. See Marc-Andre Fleury.

You're safer to stick with wellwood. There is still a chance they'll send Stall back down for the long term benifit.

keep Staal, Wellwood will fall apart with the Leafs as the Leafs always fall apart come the holidays.

Staal only has one game left before the decision must be made to send him back to the juniors or not. I'd wait until then to make the decision unless it's announced earlier. It would be a shame if you picked him up for only one game.

if you've got sundin as well, don't drop wellwood.
i don't know how staal will react to sunding though, might be a good combination too,... i still wouldn't though!

Wellwood is on fire right now. Leave him in for a bit longer then make a decision.
