i sincerely hope so
men have been running this country for far too long and a few of them making a massive amout of......foolish descisions.
women tend to have more sense than men but once in a rare blue moon you get a man who actually does what the people of the U.S. need. a good leader.
but most of them get assassinated:(
but either way i want there to be a female president
women should actually have a lot more power in this country
and the reason why we haven't had one yet is because there are still a few............men who are opposed to women's rights
i say we boot them out of the US so we can finally get steered in the right directon

I think the United States of America should get a president in the next fifty years. The richest country in the world and most powerful should be able to have a woman ruling the place. In Africa there is a woman president and even there they are a step further than the States. Although, the States is hard to control with Iraq and that and i would like to see the States going a step further, having a woman president before my generation will die. It is good that UK, where i also live, had a woman PM. There was no woman president whatsoever in America. I think they still picture woman as too emotional and as housewives. America should take that big step, not now, not tomorrow, but in the future, at least in about fifty years time because the problems it is dealing with now is too much. NICE QUESTION THOUGH!

Yes, we will have a woman president one day.
When the time is right, and the woman is strong.
Ironically enough, it is probably women who keep a woman from obtaining this position.
The female tends to be more critical of herself, and other females.
From a voter's perspective, who happens to also be female, I just want the right person for the job. I don't really care about whether a candidate is male/female, black/white, or anywhere in between. I just care about the platform they are running on, and the issues they stand behind.
God Bless America!!

I think it is a sad thing that the focus of concern is on the gender of the president. This points to a mentality that it is not the ideas that matter, but the personalities. It is a dangerous thing when people lament the lack of a female president for no other reason than that there has been no female president. That means that people are willing to vote for someone just because of their gender.
You mentioned Thatcher. I thought she made a great PM for Britain. I don't like her because she is female, I like her because of her ideas. I like her because she promoted the ideas of FA Hayek when he was the least popular economist in the world. If someone like her were to run for president, I would vote for her. If Hillary Clinton ran for president, I would definitiely not vote for her, because I don't much care for socialism. I wouldn't overlook her politics just because she is a female, but I am afraid that there are many mindless lemmings out there who would do just that.
UPDATE: Just having a woman president is not any sign of progress. That African country isn't "ahead" of us just because of that. I really hate this idea that there is some kind of score card on this. Doesn't anyone care about ideas, rather than personalities?

YES!!!! I think it's high time for a woman to lead the United States! Women here in this country have been suppressed long enough! With the 2008 Presidential campaign around the corner, I think we should have to go with Hillary Rodham Clinton as the good (and possibly the only) choice to be the nation's first female president. The "Good 'Ol Boys' Club" is about to go out of business before long! Heh heh!!

If one tough and sensible ran, I would vote for them...someone like Madeline Albricht....NOT Clinton....don't trust her...been caught in too many lies and the way the Clinton's trashed the White House when they left...even destroying the telephones shows me what kind of Character they have (not to mention all the last minute pardons of drug dealers and tax evaders!!)

WOMEN HAVE ONLY IN THE LAST CENTURY GOT THE RIGHT TO VOTE! NOW THERE ARE SEVERAL IN CONGRESS! WE WILL HAVE ONE. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME! I WOULD VOTE FOR ONE AS WOULD MOST AMERICANS..IT'S JUST HAVING THE RIGHT ONE FOR THE JOB! BEING IN CHARGE OF ONE THE STRONGEST NATIONS IN THE WORLD ISN'T LIKE COACHING SOCCER,WE'RE JUST A TAD HARDER THAN THAT!

If Hillary doesn't get elected, then it will be in the far, far, far distant future, if the Lord tarries and does not call us all home.
