My dream job is to be an international photographer. Any tips on how to begin pursuing this?

Ok don't listen to the cracks about Walmart. Out a little research into it and find out how other people have got into doing it. Use the Internet to your advantage. Find out what classes and courses are needed and how to apply for Jobs working for different magazines or organizations. Try to network. Find other people in the business who know the ins and out and can help you get in and refer you. Maybe you could start doing stuff local until you go International. Best tip is to take pictures and submit them to magazines as many times as you can until you get noticed.

a) Start building a dynamite portfolio.

b) A number of places in America are "international" now. Get your practice in communicating permission and identities.

c) Pay the bucks to have a "medium" grade photographer sit down w/ you for an hour and go over your pictures.

d) Use the ladder - There is much more space at the bottom so your name will get out faster/further. Get a picture of the NY cod market for the Maine Fisherman.

f) Find out if you will need an agent, copyright laws, on-line etc.

It's not a snap, but with determination, you have a shot.

Submit samples of your work to the correct people.
