Do you agree that women who don't cover up are to blame for rape and sexual attacks?

A Muslim Cleric seems to think so.

"If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it ... whose fault is it, the cats or the uncovered meat?" the sheik asked.

No one is asking for assault, but many woman are asking for that kind of attention. They need to be responsible enough in realizing that some people don't react to a very promiscuously dressed woman like a normal man does, and sexual assaults occur frequently for that reason.

Sexual assault is NEVER the woman's fault. Period. It is always the perpetrator's- no matter what people may think or say. The assailant could still have, regardless of the woman's attire or lack thereof, stopped himself from committing the crime.

And for somebody to compare going "uncovered" to putting out meat where there are cats- this person is a sick human being. The cats eating the meat here are acting purely on instinct, while the rapist is fully aware of the fact that what he is doing is wrong. Comparing the above cats to rapists is like comparing apples and oranges. That sheik needs to get his head screwed on VERY tightly.

Absolutely not. Rape is sexual abuse and even an uncovered woman (bikini or otherwise) has a right to decide whether or not she engages in sexual activity.

Seems like the muslim cleric has his priorities mixed up. Because true Islam teaches respect for womanhood, and there is no kind of sexual abuse or attack that can be condoned as "respectful. Meat on a sidewalk does not have a soul.

Women do. Very precious, wonderful souls at that if a woman is invested in living her life according to high moral standards and values.

For one, Cats are doing what they were created to do. Eat food that they find. They are even known to consistently scratch through a covered package if they smell the food inside.

Humans are created with knowledge of right and wrong. If a human male sees an uncovered female, he is to know better than to take advantage of the situation. It is a man with no self control that would "eat" the meat. In america we call it rape and he will be put with other men who are unable to control themselves.

The cat on the other hand is only eating which is a needed thing to survive.

It definately plays a part in the negative attention they may recieve. However, a pervert may very well choose to rape a covered woman just as soon as an uncovered one. That does not therefore give women the excuse to dress immodestly. I think they will significantlly increase their chances of being harmed if they dress imodest. Just as your illustration about the meat, if you put it out there, and in certain circumstances, someone is liable to take the bait.

I think women should dress modest, coupled with staying away from places in which they could come into harms way such as; clubs, bars, etc. They should carry themselves upright and respectfully, then perhaps they won't attract negative attention.

Nothing excuses rape...ever! But I would stay the hell away from that Muslim cleric if I were you. He sounds like a rapist. When religious leaders say ignorant **** like this does anyone in the congregation(or whatever you call it) get up and ask, "Are you saying that women are like uncovered meat and men are like cats?" I have a higher opinion of most men and women. Everyone who hasn't had their minds warped by religious gibberish knows this is barbaric nonsense.

    No.

If a man is being motivated to rape a woman not "covering up" then how do you explain men who rape elderly women? While elderly woman are beautiful from their life experiences, most are not going to grace the covers of Vanity Fair or Elle.

A rapist, like any other person, is responsible for his actions and only his actions.

It is wrong to assume that all women who dresses in short skirts and/or low cut blouses is inviting a man to rape her. A woman who dresses sexy is simply expressing her confidence in her own beauty and cannot be compared to a piece of meat placed on the streets.

People of society need to be held accountable and stop trying to blame others for their own actions.

Sounds to me like a pre-meditated act! What are the motives? There's a motive behind the person putting the meat out to be eaten and a motive for the person taking what is not there's?...take that bit of reasoning to your Sheik.

Rape has absolutely nothing to do with sex appeal. If it was based on sexual promiscuity, then there would be no child rape, elder rape, etc.

I do find it very amusing that Muslim women think that anyone gives two **its what the hell they look like under all that black. Must be lovely to be a part of a religion that correlates you to a pile of raw meat.

i dont care if a person is walking around nude blowing kisses at someone the other person should have the control to not rape or a sexual attack . to compare rape and attacks to cats eating meat left out is just weak. humans have control most humans dont use it.

the cats are at fault for eating. cant really compare the two rape to cats eating hmmmm thats just a crazy statement/question

I believe a woman should dress the way she feels comfortable, but I also believe she shouldn't be advertising what she isn't selling. But the real issue is, rape and sexual assaults shouldn't be blamed on the woman, unless she's the one doing the attacking. The real blame falls on the shoulder of the man doing the rape and attacking.
