Computer geeks (and I use the term geeks with the utmost respect for your expertise) I seriously need help.?

1.Windows Media Player will no longer read my cd's. What's up with that and how can I fix it.

2.Whenever there is video or music involved on line ie. news clips, My Space music downloads they will play for several seconds and then stop for several seconds and then pick back up right where they left off.

Could these two glitches be related? HELLLLLLLLLLLLP!!!!! And please use simple terms and precise instructions because I am the original computer dummy that the Dummy Books were written for. Thanks TECHIES. ;>)

    hey,

ok, the cd drive, double check that the cd drive works, try any normal cd, in there just one with pictures, or software or something of that sort. Just cds that dont have any music, if those cds dont work, chances are your cd-drive, the box that pops out the tray where you put ure cd has screwed up, you'll need to replace that, if ure in england, they're about £20-£30... dunno in the states, and it is quite easy to fit them in...

the myspace issue, most probably its the speed of your internet connection, your internet connection is probably too slow for the video to be loading, otherwise try to download a different web browser... instead of Internet Explorer (i'm guessing you using Internet Explorer) try out firefox... download it from www.mozilla.com

hope this helps! have a nice day

Both of your problems could be related if you're trying to stream online media through Windows Media Player. First of all... Windows Media Player is made by *Microsoft*, which means *not made well*. If you don't want to get another Media Player, you can try re-installing your version of WMP (if your current version is listed as 'Beta'... look for an older one).

Does your CD drive read any CDs at all? It may be a problem with your drive if not. But if it is a problem with WMP, try redownloading from the WindowsMedia.com

And the video problem usually means that your computer is having a hard time buffering the video. Give it time.

    Hope this helps.

Before you re install anything, get a cd cleaner for you cd drive and when playing the oline content such as the music on myspace the speed of ur connection may not be fast enought or u may need to change the settings on media player try going to media player clickeing tools> options> Performance and check that it says used default buffering if it does n ur still getting tempremental music playback set it to about 50 seconds.

  • with the one regarding the cds, its possible that your cd-rom has a problem.. or it is the cd itself..try testing your cd-rom with other cds if it will work..

the other problem regerding the video..its a usual thing really..it has something to do with the loading of the video in the site..it also has something with your internet connection.. i have dsl connection and that stopping of the video happens a lot to me.. i dont think it has a connection with your problem with the cd..
