What was the first commandment God gave to mankind?

Be fruitful and multiply Genesis 1:28

It' between:

(Genesis 1:28) "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

(Genesis 2:16-17)

And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."

Depends on how you look at how linear the first couple chapters of the Bible are. Both chapters 1&2 present the creation narrative and both of these verses are the first commandment said during the creation narrative to mankind.

The first things God commanded were to name the animals in the Garden of Eden and to not eat from the tree of knowledge. However, the first commabdment not directed at Adam and Eve was to "Be fruitful and multiply."

In the Old Testiment, Exodus 20:3, the ten commandments.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

The "don't eat the fruit" are probably right, but for some reason the one in my head is "multiply and replenish the earth."...probably because we're trying to have a baby.

Do not eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil

first commandment would be to love GOD. and to love God is to obey God. by eating the fruit Adam and Eve didnt love God for they ddint obey him.

Be fruitful and fill the Earth - Have dominion over the animals

Don't eat the fruit from the tree of the knowlege of good and evil.

Not to eat the sacred fruit
