    It's an mp3 player( if you don't know what that is it's a divice that plays music. you get the music from mp3 files on youre computer. you can download mp3 for $0.99 at the itunes music store. itunes is the software that comes with the ipod.). the cost depends on the model but they range from $60 to $300. also if you don't want to download songs you can also transfer them from CDs. They aslo have an ipod that plays videos too. here are the types of ipod:

    iPod regular: plays music and vidoes and comes in a 30gb and a

    80gb. starts at $249

    iPod shuffle: plays music. comes in a 512mb mode and a 1 gb mode. starts at $60. cheapest

    iPod mini: comes in different colors. it plays music.

    iPod nano: plays music and video. comes in a 80gb mode. has different colors.

    i have a iPod shuffle 512mb and i love it.

    well i hace a 4gb its perceft for me but if ur son likes to listen to more then 1000 songs try these web sites

    www.ipod.com and u can get ur son to take the test and see wat he seems good for him

    or if u work for the goverment then u can get good discounts for it.

    wat it dose well the video one plays music vidoes,photos

    but the others dose play music,photos same but no vidoe

    the newest ones can hold up to 8000 songs play vidoe, play songs,dose photos
