Electrol Register?

Apparently its mandatory to be put on an electrol register, why.

I dont want to vote and do not wish to be on either the public or private register.

Update:

Ri, what if I did vote and I voted Bush in!!!!

Because the electoral register is used to calculate council tax. If they do not know who lives in a house, they can not tax accordingly.

You're too late to go on this year's register - the closing date is in October every year - but at some point in late summer early Autumn the Council will write to you and ask you to complete a form to register your name at your address for next year's registration.

I assume from your comments that you are an American citizen, if this is so then I can fully understand your reluctance to become involved in the election process. It appears to me as an English man, that the system in America is basically flawed when the candidate with the "most money" regardless of policies, wins the election. Mind you it also helps if your brother can fiddle the voting figures in your favour. Anyway the only way to change is for everyone to cast their vote for the "best" candidate.

Then why are you on a political answer/question page? And thanx to bozos like you that don't vote, Bush is in office. Go back to mommy and whine. We don't want to hear about it.
