    cause the bottom one gets smushed by the stuff inside and the top one doesnt cause theres nothing on top of it

    Off-center bread-slicing, perhaps? Although, it probably has more to do with marketing--or making it look more attractive to customers--than with sandwich-making craftsmanship.
