Did John Kerry succeed in changing the topic back to Iraq?
And did the Republicans fall for it? Nobody's talking about gay marriage or abortion today. Everybody's talking about Iraq again.

He certainly did.
But come on, we all know that the military *is* the last choice available for many young people who do not do well in school, or even socially.
It is no insult, the military advertises parents considering letting the kids join the military after looking around and seeing gangs and pregnant kids

Maybe becuase John Kerry called the troups illiterate! He just lost my vote and hopefully everyone elses. Anyone who would say this about the men who die for them should not even be allowed in this country much less be President.
MRFOXHORN you should be deported to mexico. There is nothing wrong with going to Iraq. It is those who go that give you the right to make a**hole coments like you just did.

The topic was never off of Iraq John Kerry succeeded in demoralizing our troops with his hate speech.

His explanation for insulting every Iraq soldier, as well as every US vet, was lame.
His faux Democratic emotion comes off as so disingenuous. He said what he meant. It was not taken out of context. He chose his speech for a liberal California college and was playing to their leftist sentiments.
But he did succeed in changing the topic but not back to Iraq, he changed it to himself. Everything I've heard this morning is about Kerry blaming the Republican Whitehouse for him insulting soldiers and vets.
At least we won't have to worry about John Kerry being a 2008 presidential candidate. It's not everyone who not only knows the second their candidacy ended, and he did it to himself.

No Need To Talk About Those Things, The Voters Already Made Up Their Mind ABout Them.
What they haven't decided on is whether or not to put Kerry's elitist party back in power or not.
He made a mistake, he should apologize. Plain and simple.

I think it helped GOP with 'get out to vote' campaign more. It was bad mistake by him. GOP's gona put him in ads and say see 'don't put these democrats in charge of security.' It's just too bad Kerry made that comment the way he did. It's about how many actually turn out to vote and not about public polls. Kerry just pushed that button GOP always push to get people out to voting booth.

That was a very big price to pay to get Iraq back on the news. He just shot his foot off after he put it in his mouth.

Lurch needs to keep his mouth shut. He's nothing but a bag of hot air. Talk about global warming!! Sheeesh!!!

No he did not. The republicans were succesful in turning his coment into a national news story for all the wrong reasons. He was right when he said if you don't do well in school you will wind up in the military.
