HELP!!!!! My computer won't start up!!! it lights up, fans work but it only beeps...no picture on moniter..

Re-install Windows XP (clean install). That's the only solution left as you already "tampered" some of the internal settings that shouldn't be touched in the first place.

The "NTLDR is missing" message might be as a result of an external storage drive or any USB hardware that was pulled out incorrectly before shutting down the PC.

Consult Microsoft Knowledge Base pertaining to this aspect.

Okay. This might sound kind of dumb and i'm sure all the computer experts will roll their eyes but i had the exact same problem a few days ago and here's why... for the last two months my computer hasn't shown ANY system info on start up. the first thing i see is my desktop. don't know why. but a few days ago i accidently turned my computer off manually. just hit the switch. after that all i got on start up was a blank screen with my monitor saying "no signal". so i pulled my tower apart, considered reinstalling windows, buying new motherboards etc. then i put in an old video card that DID bring up the system diagnostics and all that was happening was the computer was asking me to press F1 to continue start up or "delete" to enter set up. because i wasn't seeing ANY screen, i didn't know it was asking this question. i pressed F1 and everything was fine. so, my grand advice is this... turn on the computer, wait, then press F1. then wait, and see if it loads. problem is, i've had to hit F1 every time since.

Did you do a CMOS or BIOS set up?

Before I can help you I need to know.

But in the mean time try this.

Turn the power on and keep hitting the 'delete' button.

you should come back to your set up page.

Scroll down to 'load best values' or something like that...depending on the cpu.

If that does not work try using your 'satart up' disk.

If it's a Dell they usually give a recovery disk.

Without talking to you as you do this, is probably a waste of time.

One problem that causes a comp. to behave like this is a full hard drive.

But you said you had it formatted.

call the Manufacturer. They sometimes have a software package to re-do your set up.

Also try this; remove the ribbon from your hard drive. This upsets the cpu and it will go into a set up mode, by telling you to press 'F1 or F2' to run set up. This all depends on the manufacture. I hope I was of some help to you.

Try switching it off, making sure you don't damage it with static electricity, and unplug everything ( take a picture just in case you forget something). Look inside to see if any of the wires are disconnected or not quite in properly. If they are carefully plug them in firmly. If you have a graphics Card then take it out, clean it of dust and put it back in. Make sure to plug the Monitor into the graphics cards plug. Also check that the cd drive is plugged in.If that doesn't work to a cold reboot (turn it off, unplug from power and reboot after 5 mins) Hope i could help!

sounds to me like it's your video card. Also take the side off the tower and make sure that the card is seated properly. (don't forget to unplug the power cord first while doing this). Also, when you take the side off, use a screwdriver or something metal and rub it anywhere on the tower box to ground it. otherwise you run the risk of static wiping out the harddrive. Mind you, all this takes only a couple minutes.

the beep codes are specific for problems with power suppl;y, cpu etc. count the beeps, short long etc, then call whoever did the cpu and tell them what the beeps were.

Put your BIOS on "Default Settings" That should clearthe beeping problems.

Do you know what motherboard you have? Also what exactly is the beep sequence?

maybe your monitor is broken try getting a new one at computerUSA or at walmart
