What are your views concerning children that come out of homes full of marital problems?
My family has a terrible history with marriage.
My parents each have been married once before. Almost every relative over the age of 38 has been married twice. Infidelity has ocurred enough times. My own parents have been on the brink of divorce three times already. Each of my female relatives has had at least three or four broken engagements. Half of the children of my generation (i.e. siblings and cousins) who have gotten married have gotten divorced. There are way too many step and half siblings in my family.
I don't believe genes determine fate. As I understand it, the individual decides whether or not their conditions decide their lives. However, I'm wondering what you think about whether or not bad family history with marriage is something that one should keep in mind when considering getting married.
9 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoCalling Out to You - A Love Song...opinions please?
A rumpled bed, a restless soul,
I have not tasted the sweet fruit of sleep
since last week.
My eyes, wide open,
stare at the ceiling above.
I see the uneven strokes of paint.
It reflects me,
A poor attempt at uniformity.
The morning breeze picks up,
the dew hangs on the gale,
the salty moisture hangs on my lips.
I wish it was you.
The soft sand beneath my feet,
every step leaves a shallow dent,
is that all I leave behind in my wake?
A shallow impression, a hollow ache?
The sun glows with promise,
giving the depth of sea a diamond surface.
The soft, foamy waves kiss the shore
and I know it's me and you.
The colorless, restless sea that pretends to be blue
and the warm, golden sand that's gentle and true.
The water that rages at times when it can't reach the shore
and the hills of sand, that have never asked for more.
But I'm asking for more, I want you.
I want you, my Greek hero.
You're everything I want to be
but though I search I cannot find
the Achilles heel you've left behind
in your past life, which you will not disclose to me.
I'm here for you, I want to be.
But you don't need me.
You have you, and that is enough for now.
Can you hear my heart? It's racing now.
You do that to me, a biological reaction
to a physical response.
Could you look at me properly, just this once?
And tell me
Do you see me?
I want you to, please do.
Please do.
2 AnswersPoetry1 decade agoDo you believe love exists?
We all know about the unrealistic and misinterpreted love portrayed on screen, in print and through songs. But I am interested in knowing whether you believe in real-life love or if you think that relationships are only linked in lust and marriage is only upheld in compromise.
16 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoLadies...which magazine is best?
I want to subscribe to a magazine and right now I'm deciding between cosmogirl/seventeen or marie claire. I'm a 17 year old girl, soon 18, and I just wanted your opinions on the magazines I mentioned above. If you wish to recommend any other magazines, go right ahead! I greatly appreciate your comments.

8 AnswersMagazines1 decade agoLife as a Surgeon...?
I was just curious about life as a surgeon. I intend to follow this career path and, being a woman, have been discouraged by many. Reasons range from not having enough time for yourself, to the length of time it takes in terms of studies. But mostly, people tell me that getting married will be difficult and that it will be hard to maintain any relationship with children and spouses. Any surgeons out there willing to give me a glimpse of their life? Any advice/ tips about the process and the career? (I'm planning on brain surgery...) Thanks :P
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoTo all teachers? I need your opinion please...?
I am a high school senior. One of my teachers has truly contributed to the success I have experienced in school, has offered me advice, talked with me, encouraged me and generally been a great father-like figure for me at school. We email each other every once in a while and I absolutely loved spending time with him. I know teachers aren't allowed to show favouritism or even be friendly with a particular student but I feel I have found a true friend in him. I don't want to be invasive or weird but I'd like to ask your opinion, as a teacher. How would you feel if a student that has always been enthusiastic in your class and hard-working tried to pursue a friendly relationship with you outside of class? Do you think it is inappropriate? Should I just be grateful for what he has done, but stop trying to maintain any relations?
7 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoOpinions on thank you poem for teacher?
Hey guys,
I'm graduating this year so I thought I'd write a poem for my teachers...opinions appreciated :P thanks...
To My Teacher
Like a leaf, trembling and unsure
I have dangled from my tree too long
Looking to the horizon, watching,
Wondering, questioning as the sun set
On every day, taking with it a
Missed adventure
But you, my dear teacher, have
Unleashed me, released me from
My stubborn clutch on my branch
And like a gentle breeze, carried me off
To lands far away
Until finally, I landed on a soft hill
Lighted with the day's hopeful rays
And decided to start my own life
Somewhere different, Somewhere new
And though, now,
I have undertaken this new journey on my own
I will always remember my initiation,
My beginning,
And forever recall that Chapter One begins with
my teacher.

2 AnswersChemistry1 decade agoLove problem...?
I've been friends with this guy for a while and we've become so close that we literally treat each other as if we were siblings. He's so wonderful to me and we are almost always somewhere near each other at school. I really loved our friendship and was very grateful for it. However, a close friend of both of ours talked to him the other day and he told her that he really liked me and has a crush on me. She tried to get him to tell me and he actually did mention he wanted to tell me sumtin though he hasnt told me yet. I'm very surprised by this...and confused because i nvr thought any one of us would even consider liking each other like that. I dont even know what I feel for him anymore. Mom has actually talked to me about him and told me if he ever proposed she'd be over the moon with joy. but i nvr took anyone seriously when they talked bout us. now i dont know what to do...evn if i do feel the same way.its very hard for us to be together and im afraid of being hurt. comments?

1 AnswerDancing1 decade agothere is this guy...should i let him know?
He's a friend of mine and he's really been through a hard time this year because his father passed away. I just found out how kind a heart he has and i've begun to get to know him more...at prom, we slow danced.he really made me feel special. Now he continually mentions our dance together and told me it meant a lot to him...he keeps giving me mixed signals but i don't know whether its me who's interpreting it wrong or what...anyway...i was very close to telling him the other day, and he took me to one side and just as i was about to tell him...he goes 'are you going out with *this guy*?' i told him i wasn't going out with anyone, but he kept saying, 'no really....are you? u can tell me seriously.' and every time i ttried to tell him again, he brings up that guy. i've lost the courage to tell him but he already knows i want to tell him sumtin...should i go on and tell him ot just make up sumtin and pretend what i wanted to say in the first place wasn't important?

My CPU has just come back from being formatted and it worked fine when i turned it on...i turned it off that night and the next morning...i tried turning it on and it would only show an error message reading "NTLDR is missing. Press ctrl+alt+del to restart"....so i did and it just got the same message...then i tried setup and booting menu and everything to check all is alright and it still didn't work....and then i did the biggest mistake i could do...by refering to the settings of my brothers computer...i changed the values on my setup window and options to correspond to the other computer and now it wont even start up....this is literally what happens...i turn it on...the fans start, the lights light, i hear a few beeps and then nothing...the fans are still on but the monitor shows nothing even when i restart and it only says 'no signal input'....i know im in so deep i might just have to buy a whole new CPU but is there anyway i can fix this? please give details. thank u so much!!!
