Help, ceiling fan motor is so annoying!?

Fans are so cheap now days and it sounds like the fan is either defective or old, Just get a new one

DO NOT Listen to David, he is clueless, Certified ceiling fan boxes come in either Plastic OR Metal and DO NOT Use wd40 it could cause over heating on the motor which could cause a fire, that and when the wd40 gets warm....It will flow downward and more then likely get slung all over the place

Try blowing the dust out of the housing and making sure the blades are clean. If that doesn't help, you're due for replacement. Don't even think about using WD-40 in a ceiling fan. Mikelt78 is trying to get you to start a fire.

What u really have to do is that u have to change the box that is holding the fan from the roof (the one that in on your atticis a square box metal or plastic in most cases) thats what is making the humming noise, that only cost between $5 to $15 dol. in home depot. I am sure that that is the problem, U can check with the home depot personel too just to be sure but I'm sure of that.

how about lubricant? WD40 works quite well
