When you make a Boiled Dinner, do you use ham or corned beef?

And what do you use for vegatables? I have one going now with ham, potatoes, carrots, turnip, and cabbage.

I make a boiled dinner with either. Generally the vegetables are potatoes, cabbage, onions and carrots. Sometimes I throw in some turnips or rutabaga. I always use the stock that is made to make great pea or bean soup, really tasty.

Traditional boiled dinner involves corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, onions, carrots and a turnip if you desire (turnips are good for adding flavor to the cooking water). I like to use parsnips sometimes. Spices include bay leaves, whole pepper corns, a few cloves and a few cloves of garlic. I add a bit of lemon zest and a splash of rum too. There is no reason why ham could not be used, but there are so many nice ways to cook ham other than boiling. Saving the hambone to make soup is a much better way to make a ham based dish on the stovetop.

    Corned Beef

Well, I don't make it because I hate it, but I've only ever seen it made with corned beef. All the veggies you mention fall into the class of "the usual suspects" ie should be great (if you like boiled dinner!).
