Will Best Buy / Circuit City match price of online competitors?

They don't usually match prices of online competitors. However J&R is an actual store in NYC. So, you may be able to get the store to quote that price to Circuit City and Best Buy near you and they will match the store's price.

Also, typically extended warranties are completely unnecessary. These companies make a large portion of their revenues from these so called "ad-ons" and the majority of the time you never need them. If I were you, I would buy the item online (foregoing the $29-$79 extended warranty fee CC and BB usually charge) and take a chance ... solving both your problems at once.

Doesnt hurt to ask.... Print out the price quote online, add shipping costs, then bring that to Best Buy and tell them that you are planning on getting the extended warranty, but would like to get the MP3 player at that price. The only hting they can say is Yes or No...

Yesterday, I did that with a new helmet. Took the printout showing it was online for $319 with free shipping, while the store was selling it for $419...can you make a deal??If not, I walk and buy it online.... The guy sold me the helmet for $344 out the door... So I payed a few bucks more, but not $100+tax more!

Retail Stores such as the ones you mentioned do not Price Match Online Competitors. They will however Price Match their own web site. You could also TRY negotiating prices sometimes, depending on the product.

price matches are usually of competitors like you aid.. Best Buy and Circuit City and etc. JR is an actual store and Best Buy will not price match with Amazon. i did price matching at JR once and they told me that it has to be a local competitor. Best Buy will prob do it from JR.. i did it once. but it all depends on where you live and if they will do it if its not that far..

My boyfriend works at Best Buy and he told me that some managers do match the online adds, as long as its not from eBay or any website like that. Anyways it does not hurt to go in and try...that is his advice

best buy price matches with prices online, but it can't be mail-in rebate and it includes shipping and handling
