What you see in the news is only a fraction of what goes on there. If anything, the American presence moderates the impulse of everyone from the Iraqi Army and Iraqi Police, to the local tribal militias to engage in banditry and vendetta killings that are the norm over there. If you think Americans are torture-happy, you have NOT seen the aftermath of some Iraqi Police interrogations. To spare your sensitive feelings, I won't describe in detail what happened, but suffice to say that I will never walk through a hardware store without thinking about it again.

(2) Define "illegal weapons". Depleted Uranium? Please. That's for SABOT rounds, and they don't get used against anything other than enemy armor - of which there is none left in Iraq. The rules are so strict that I can't even carry a police baton over there. If it wasn't issued, it isn't used (unless it's a knife) - and everything must meet the standards of Geneva-Hague.

The humiliation of the United States is in leaving thousands of people to fend for themselves in "re-education camps" and drown on the high seas trying to escape the Communists. The same would be the case if we left Iraq. So what happens to the Assyrian and Chaldean Christian communities? What happens to Kurds? All the little villages and towns that you haven't set foot in and do not understand?
