Dumb and Dumber, If Admiral Kimmel (Pearl Harbor) was dumb, wasn't General Mac Aurthur even dumber?
The Admiral had about 45 minutes warning the General had about 5 hours. The General remained in his penthouse while his aircraft were destroyed on the ground.

Yeah but I think the attack came around noon so the radio operator at Clark Field was out to lunch. Ever try to get anything done by the government around lunch time?

Frankly, this question is stupid. General MacArthur, first off, was one of the greatest generals in American history and cannot and should not be considered dumb simply because he lost a battle that was more or less a surprise attack from someone who wasn't technically his enemy. General MacArthur was one of the main reasons we won the pacific theatre and the Korean War. His mistake in the Philipenes does not make him "dumber".
Admiral Kimmel is simply the man blamed for unfortunate circumstances. No matter what Admiral had been at Pearl Harbor that day, the outcome would have remained the same.

MacArthur was not dumb, hs is somewhat selfish, egoistic but was a brilliant strategist too.
One mistake he made was to delay his B-17s from bombing the Japanese airbases in Formosa, the Japanese bombed Clark at lunch break when all the loaded bombers were still on the ground.
Concentrating his forces in the Bataan peninsula resulted in one the hardest victory the Japanese had to fight for, decalring Manila City an open city was muname, it saved thousands of lives.
The selfish part came when he had to leave Corregidor unders orders from Gen. Wavell, he loaded the spare compartments of his B-17 with cans of pineapples instead of woundeds from his beseiged perimeter.
Egoistic part came when the tide turned, his invasion back into the Philippines was costly in men, just to keep 'I shall Return' promise and also there was a race between Army undr him and Marines under Nimitz.
He was brilliant in the Korean War, his unorthodox landing at Inchon behind enemy lines relieved the pressure on the Pusan perimeter (last Allied defence pocket). He kicked the North Koreans right back into their other half and could had crossed into the Chinese border after the Chinese joined the war....
But alas....your politicians had to retire him for being a loud mouth....he could have ended the cold war!
Kimmel was made a scarpegoat by the very same people who fied MacArthur. Thats the way things are....same as how the US gave up the Vietnam war with the upper hand, how US troops are now in Iraq.....

Your question is dumb.
Admiral Husband Kimmel was made into a scapegoat.
Dr Robert Pritchard,a US Constitution Law professor at Los Angeles Valley College and Enlisted Infantryman that fought in the Korean conflict, said ' General Mac Aurthur was HATED by the Enlisted but loved by the Commissioned Officers.'
General Mac Aurthur was an Engineer by trade but used the LOGIC and the landings at Inchon Bay in Korean conflict was an example of his ingenuity.
Dwight David "IKE Eisenhower detested him when they were in the Philippines when he was 2nd in command and it was NOT about about personalities.

General Douglas MacArthur is and always will be the greatest General officer not only in American history but, World history as well. You should do the honorable thing and go and play "Russian Roulette" but make sure you use a .45 Automatic.

MacAurthur was in Manila. His planes were up at Clark Field in Pampanga. God only knows what his communications were like.
But your question is one that's been asked since Dec. 7th. Many think MacAurthur believed the Japanese were going to attack Formosa, not the Philippines.
In any case, MacAurthur never addressed the question.
