The French and Indian War was what the Colonist called this war and we from the U.S. continue to call it (them). However France and England who fought during this period of time had numerous names for the different conflicts between them all through the early to mid 18th Century. I can't recall the names offhand.

The conflict in North America was nearly continuous even though there were treaties ending the various shorter wars in Europe. The French and their allies the Indians/First Peoples/Native Americans would raid Colonists and the Colonists would raid back or vice versa sometimes with British regulars.

I heard that there was a treaty of Montreal in the early 18th Century where both sides agreed to not enter upstate NY. However the French then built Fort Niagara and the British built Fort Oswego tit for tat leading to more confict. The Houdenasaunee (sorry if that is mispelled) or the Iroquis as they were called by the French were feared and were to be left alone pursuant to the treaty.

The French eventually got sick of it all and the cold weather and gave Canada away to England in the Treaty of Paris in exchange for the warmer clime Island of Guadeloupe which they kept.

Your talking about in America what is called the French and Indian War. In the greater context of world history The Seven Years War. And I am not going to give any more of you teeny bopers info if you don't stop picking the coolest answer for your paper. This was really a world war. It started in America, the Ohio River Valley, over where Pittsburgh now stands. It spread to Europe, and the far east. It spread basically everywhere then. So you kids can get an book or input this info and give me a little respect, and a credit for tipping you off.
