Not knowing the basic social graces, AND not bothering or caring to find out what they are when the need for them arises, is improper etiquette. Like how to write and invitation, or a thank you. Not learning how to talk and to be polite to people. Or not learning how to dress for a certain occasion. Or not learning basic table manners. Or when to bring a gift, or not.
There is little excuse for not learning, with the internet right here, but it seems that etiquette is passe these days.
You did the right thing, you have proper etiquette, you asked!
I hope this is what you were asking for.

I think you may mean "Improper etiquette" and if so it would be not using your table manners that your Mom probably taught you. Things like speaking with your mouth full or spitting out food you didn't like. One I remember is not putting my elbows on the table and another was not to slurp my milk.
Then improper etiquette can go much further. Things like not knowing how to use a four course dinner cutlery setting in the right order - now that's a real challenge in today's society.
Hope this information helps
Cheers!

Apparently putting your elbows on the table when you eat (guilty) and eating with your mouth open.
Those are the only things I know about this thing called etiquette.
Sorry. I'm not a girly girl. I don't know this stuff lol.
