Explain how this promise failed for the 80 years of Jim Crow. Give two examples.?

The 14th Amendment was passed after the Civil War guaranteeing rights and the protection of the law to all citizens no matter what race or skin color.

    first was the separate but equal! Which kept the races segregated and were anything but equal!

    second was in voting Jim Crow laws prevented most African Americans from voting!

    Those are a couple but there are many more!

    These things are always open to debate. The law is a living entity. What seems like a good idea now might not seem realistic later. Anything that is accomplished by killing people is questionable.

    Example one : the law that took land from Indians.

    Example two : the law that took land from Mexico.

    Thomas Jefferson said the constitution should be re-written each generation.

    blacks who tried to register to vote or even speak up against jim crow were swiftly dealt with by white extremists usaully Ku Klux Klan. - 2nd example
